It is said that the weather prediction for the Canary Islands region requires more computing power than it does for the whole of Spain, such is the complexity of the problem. There is really no such thing as a reliable 7 day forecast here, let alone long-range predictions, so best to check back every few days for a quick update on the conditions.

Despite the best efforts of meteorologists at measuring, calculating, and then classifying typical weather patterns all over the world, the weather often goes haywire because it is a “chaotic system”. Nevertheless, these two weather forecasts are generally the most reliable:

Firstly, the BBC 5-day weather forecast for Tenerife South (TFS, Reina Sofia) Airport, Tenerife North (TFN, Los Rodeos) Airport and the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Secondly, the Spanish Medioambiente weather forecast (Agencia Estatal de Meteorología, AEMET) for numerous regions in the Canary Islands and mainland Spain. It’s particularly informative for adverse weather conditions & up to date weather warnings. If the weather is looking a bit dodgey, this is the first place to look.

There is one meteological station on Tenerife which is of particular interests to cyclists climbing Mt Teide. This is the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. Here you can see real time data at the Izaña observatory and also the latest daliy, weekly, monthly and yearly trends. Hopefully this should help you decide what clothes are appropriate for each time of year!
